I am going to attempt a simple tiered carved cake for my daughters birthday. My question is, what recipes are good for this. I would like to do one tier chocolate and another yellow and am just not sure what cake to make. I think a pound cake would work well but I didn't want something that heavy. TIA for your help.

This is one I found on here that works really well for topsy-turvy or one you may need to carve. HTH K'ly

Please don't forget to post pics when your done.

1 Duncan Hines Yellow (or White) cake mix
4 egg whites
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 small pkg of instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350

Incorporate all ingredients together one by one on low speed.

Make sure to mix thoroughly between each ingredient.

Once all ingredients are mixed turn mixer to medium and mix for approximately 2 minutes.

Bake at 350 for 30 - 35 minutes

I tried this recipe one time for cupcakes and LOVED the taste so I tried using it for another 10 inch and 6 inch cake and when I took them out of the oven they looked good but within 5 minutes they had shrunk in the pans-just like something had been sat on them and they folded under so I went back to the extender recipe. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem or know what caused it because I would like to use this recipe again but am afraid to. Thanks.
