I Need A Color For This Cake..........

Hello Everyone!!
I am making a Haanah Montana cake for this weekend and I need to know, How to make the color Purple mine in the past has never really turned out so I know I was doing something wrong.

I use Americolor Regal Purple for almost every purple color I need. I just LOVE the rich hues you can get from it. They sell it right here on CC. Mixing to make purple just never seems to come out right for me and is very frustrating...plus if I use a lot of red, then the icing tastes a little bitter.
When I did a Backyardigans cake, I needed a purple/burgandy color for one of the characters. The next day, it was gray. So I colored some more icing, even darker this time and went with that. Then I found out that if you do not use milk for your icing, purple with turn a blue/gray color. I guess that's what happened to mine. I used water, not milk.
Ha! I have to do a Hannah Montan for this weekend, too! My daughter is turning 11 and is having a dance party.
Just wondered if you use Cream of Tartar in your recipe. That turns my purples to a grey-blue color every time.
Ok Ladies, I made some Purple Icing but not so sure it is going to turn out right.I am hoping that it turns out better in the morning I have to have it for Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed.It doesn't look like purple now.
