How do you get that surgical tape goop off of your skin???

I've tried alcohol, make up remover, fingernail polish remover and still the thick sticky tape stuff is still on my skin!

I had 4 breast biopsies yesterday. OMG, I'm really sore today but my test results were all negative! yeay!!!

Just need to heal up and get this stuff off of my chest!
Thanks...

Try lotion, let it soften it up, then wipe off with a warm , damp towel. Works for me. I can't stand that band-aid goo.

GL!

I can't ever get that darn stuff off, either, but I'm delighted to hear that your test results were negative!! Lotion or baby oil sounds like a step in the right direction.
Here's a tip...(this is a valid situation in my case...) in the future, tell the staff that you are mildly allergic to the adhesive, so please use as little as possible or see if there is an alternative. My skin blisters under the tape...ouch

They used to sell something at the pharmacy I worked at that removed it, I can't remember what it was called though (it's been about 10 yrs since I worked there!). It was made specifically for removing adhesive left from tape.

I don't know what takes it off, it took me about 5 weeks of scrubbing every day in the shower, eating away at it slowly but surely, before the last little bit was gone. But it DID go away! Congrats on the test results!

DH had quite few surgeries in the last two years and we find goo-gone works well at getting the adhesive off. He was also allergic to the glue; he had less trouble with the paper tape.

I had a abdominal Hysterectomy & after 6 weeks I was allowed to use a wash cloth & soap on the incesion (sp?). There was Tons of that stuff &I just had to peel it off.

It did come off mostly for me with a soapy washcloth.

I am glad the tests results were negative. icon_wink.gif

Baby oil - wipe some on, leave it for a few seconds, wipe it off - should be easily gone.

After I had my c-section I went in to have my staples removed and the nurse used Avon's Skin So Soft. She said everyone kept asking her so she just kept a bottle in the office and used did it for the patients. I don't remember if there are different types but it took it right off. Also I agree with the Goo Gone. It takes stickers off of mirrors and I don't think it would hurt your skin. Good luck!

Last year when I had my lung surgery I was told to use witch hazel to remove the tape residue my DH worked on it with a cotton ball it took about 1/2 hr but it did come off.
