I made fondant masks yesterday for a mardi gras cake I'm doing for Sunday. They are dry to the touch, but not dry all the way through yet, but do I have to wait until they're completely dry to paint them with luster dust?? This will be a first attempt for me with luster dust and I'm so excited and can't wait to use it!! icon_biggrin.gif

I'm by no means an expert, but from what I've read, you can apply it at the stage you've described.

I have used it right after I have put the fondant on the cake all the time. You can dust any time you want. Have fun.

I did when I made my masks....just make sure they are well supported or still on the former whilst you paint so you don't chance on breaking them because they are not set.
Luster takes better (or so I've found) when the fondant is still "fresh" not too too dry.
Or you can flip them over let them dry another day, then paint....
