Help I have a woman who wants a cake for her friend 50th birthday party. She is using black orange, and gold for colors. She wants it to be 2 tiered topsy turvy. she has some halloween decorations she is using but wants it to be on the classy side. Anyone got any ideas?
TIA
how about a black tier and an orange tier, using fondant decorations painted with gold Hi-lighter? You could put diamond cutouts, large pearls around the tiers, and a gumpaste/fondant 50 on top all in the gold color. I think that would look really cool....only a touch of Halloween.
for classy, i would keep it simple and elegant. how about spider webs and a few simple spiders? or....simple tombstones. unless she has specified any particular colors, just do a very very pale periwinkle. add very thinly piped light grey webs and a few small black spiders with a larger fondant spider on top.
i prefer people to tell me exactly what they want but i have a few clients who always say....just do what you think is best.
good luck!

How about marbling black and orange fondant? for a start?
Maybe gray webs w/spiders....or ghosts....or pumpkins? but only a few. Le tthe marble be the eyecatcher, black fantasy flowers are pretty. I have one at my pics on my halloween wedding cake I just did. They add elegance to creepy........I call it "crelegance"![]()
On a magazine cover the other day I saw a simple single layer cake, but it was an orange frosted or fondant cake that had what looked like ganache over the top and dripping down the sides. Inside was chocolate cake with orange frosting. Not that this is amazing, but the colors made it really stand out.
