The wedding is on Saturday at 2pm. I was originally going to deliver the cake that morning as I normally would. Well, it would fit my schedule so much better to deliver it on Friday evening. My husband is working Sat. morning and I will have my 2 1/2 year old with me while I try to deliver the cake.

Do you think Friday evening's too early? I know that it runs the risk of getting bumped or something, but as long as the bride is cool with it (I haven't asked yet)???

By the way, it is a 3 tiered stacked cake covered in MMF.

Please give me your opinions!

Thanks!
Brandi

I think that trusting that your cake will sit untouched and unsupervised overnight and most of the next day is risky. What if the heat gets cranked up that night? Or worse, someone comes in and messes with it.

I wouldn't chance it. Establishing a good reputation is worth the inconvenience.

Good luck and I hope there are pictures!! icon_smile.gif

I wouldn't chance it either. See if you can get a friend to go with you to keep an eye on the little one while you set up the cake.

As a rule, I usually deliver the cake the day of the wedding. HOWEVER, when I did The Cake from He-- (loooonnnggg thread) I did it and the groom's cake at the church and finished it the night before. The wedding was a 2:30 PM on Sat. and I had to be at the airport to pick up my kids that day. It was okay with the bride and I wrapped it in Saran. Also the wedding coordinator is a friend of mine and she agreed to unwrap the cake for me. I DID go to the wedding and did a quick trip through the reception hall before to check the cakes. She had put the drumsticks on the groom's cake incorrectly. Now, this would not normally be a problem, actually no one would notice but me, but I made a few minor changes. So, after this loonng dissertation.....if AT ALL possible, try to deliver the day of. I agree that a good rep is worth a little inconvenience.

I think it takes a BRAVE soul to call a bride and try to switch up plans a few days before her wedding day....im afraid that in itself is going to have heavy repercussions! icon_eek.gif

Along with what was already said about chances of something happening to it....
....I think ignorance is bliss for most people....although the cake may be ready the night before....it may be ready days before....but I dont think the wedding party wants to know that......I thik if its delivered the night before they will view it and have in their mind "it isnt fresh".....which is going to cause them to take a bite with that in mind...and whether it is or isnt.....they will say it "isnt"

I would do your best to stay with in your original plan.

I wouldn't chance it. Even if you have to pay someone to watch the little one. Deliver Saturday.

Okay, you guys are right. I was just hoping that you would tell me that it was "okay" to deliver it early.

I thank you for your honesty. I will deliver it in the morning.

This is the most easy going bride I have met yet. I am however cutting her a huge deal. A cake to feed 200 for only $250, covered in MMF and topped with a MMF bow. Even though I am not making a whole lot of money on it, I still don't want to risk it becoming damaged. No matter what she paid for it, she still deserves a great cake....afterall I really can't complain. I did agree to do it for that price. She originally had a price limit of $150-$200 for her cake.

Thanks again... I totally appreciate it!
