Hi,
I know this sounds kind of frugal, but I am wondering if there is a use for royal icing that is dry, I recently made a large amount of royal icing decorations (just in case some broke) and now I have an extreme surplus, I just hate to throw it in the trash.

Thanks all!

I don't think you can recycle them except to eat it or toss it.
If anyone else has any ideas about recycling old RI flowers I wouldn't mind knowing what they are. I just put them in a candy dish and my grandkids love em. Otherwise I toss them.

i keep all of my excess RI decors. seal them in some gladware or something. You never know when you might have a last minute cake to do! Also, maybe your extras would be cute on cupcakes? Holidays are upon us..... bring some cupcakes to you neighbor! icon_smile.gif or your local soup kitchen icon_smile.gif

my wilton instructor told me that you can store royal icing decorations for a year in tupperware or any type of airtight container.

Decorate cupcakes with them and take them to your local womens shelter, police dept, etc.

Thanks everyone!
My inquiry was along the lines of possibly reconstituting or morphing somehow, the decorations were accidently crushed.
I suppose I could crush them more and use them as texture or topping on something.
Again thank you all so much!!

Snow? Beach sand? Dandruff? 'Salt' on a margarita glass? sprinkled on wet cookie or cupcake icing? rum ball coating? in a sugar bowl to add to tea or coffee?
You could TRY warming them in some water on the stove to see if they melted enough to use as a glaze...couldn't hurt to try.

I forget where I saw this - but smashed pieces were used in a mosaic like design.

LOL at the dandruff!

Good luck1
