Need some ideas for a tier cake to feed at least 60 people. My niece called today and is a manager/activity cor. for a low income elderly housing building. (The building is 11 stories)They have been thru a remodel and they want a cake to either go with that theme or maybe a Thanksgiving themed.. She "wants it like a wedding cake" any ideas?

What about doing just a nice tiered cake, with some fall leaves and pumpkins on it. Maybe a conacopia (sp?) on top, with fruit and leaves cascading down the side.

Whatever you make will be greatly apprieciated, so i think if there is something you want to try this would be the time to do it.

Thats when she called me, she asked me if there was something I need to practice on....I was thinking of maybe a funny turkey on the top holding a sign that said "be Thankful the constructions over" but not sure what to do on the other layers..Or maybe doing something that looked a little folk art...I have a Lang calender in front of me, it says Seasons of gathering and gratitude, thats another thought...Really thinking it neds to be BC frosting, because of age of people and for her to cut it... any ideas???

You could do a stacked buttercream cake with fondant accents... fall leaves, pumpkins, maybe a turkey topper.. I like the idea about being thankful for the end of the construction. Maybe you could put a little yellow hard hat on the turkey!
I made fall leaves out of fondant with the wilton cutter set. They were easy to make and turned out nice!
I have a fall themed cake in my photos if you want to take a look!
Good luck.. and a good cause!!

Going with the theme, you could do the top cake as a pumpkin, sitting on fall colored leaves, with the leaves cascading down the other tiers...
