Merigaine Powder Question #2

Sometimes when i use merigaine powder in my icing i can taste a little bitterness does anyone else have this problem, sometimes i leave it out and my icing is ok but i dont like taking chances on the wedding cakes i do so i will add it

The only thing I use it for is royal. I hate the smell of it and I can't tell the difference in BC.
