I have been asked by a friend to make a cake for 100 people for her church group. I have not accepted as I am new at this and do not feel my skills are up to par.
I will not be charging her for any part of this cake.
If I do it I would prefer to do a square cake maybe 12x12x2 double stacked.

According to the pages that I have seen on CC this should feed 100.
Is this correct and if so...How would a cake in this configuration be cut?

Thanks for Reading!!

If you cut it in the standard wedding cake size of 1x2x4, then you would cut a two-layer, 12" square in 12 rows by 6 columns = 72 servings.

A 14" cake, cut the same way, would be cut 14 rows by 7 columns = 98 servings.

A 12x18 two-layer cut the same way would be cut 12 rows by 9 columns = 108 servings.

Here's the Wilton chart to help you get an idea of how many servings per cake size: http://www.wilton.com/wedding/cakeinfo/cakedata.cfm

Here's a link to my website showing how I cut a cake into this size. The pics are on a round cake, but you do it the same way for a square cake: http://cateritsimple.com/_wsn/page19.html
