I usually buy my cake supplies online. Although there is a place in Concord, NC called Whites Office Supply that carries lots of wilton items, however they are pretty pricey. I go to Hobby Lobby in Concord and visit Michaels in Charlotte ocassionally. I wish there were a place closer to me for cake decorating supplies buy I dont know of any.

Your cakes are beautiful.......did I see a write up somewhere about your cakes? I don't remember where but is was about a lady in Albamarle.
Is your grandbaby to be near you? I am so excited for you, I have six and love spending time with them. None live close to me ![]()
I'm am "Newbie" and also live in the Carolina's (Lake Norman Area). If you are ever in the Denver of the East area (Hwy 16) there is a cake supply store called Shirley's, (82
465-2604 she doesn't have a website. I'm starting my first cake decorating class at Gaston Community College which I don't believe is the (wilton method)on Monday and I'm wondering if I should also take a wilton class at one of the location listed on the Wilton site. If you have any suggestions I would be so grateful.
Have a Blessed Day

Papertown on Spring Forest Road in Raleigh, just west of Capital Blvd. is starting to carry more cake supplies. Right now they have Satin Ice, some luster dusts, royal icing mix, CK powdered colors and meringue powder. The more we patronize the place, the more cake stuff they will carry!
Laura
Also, are any of you NC people involved in NC ICES? It is a very active chapter that has many talented decorators who are willing to share! Here is the website address[url] http://www.angelfire.com/nc3/ncices/index.html
Sorry if the link won't work--haven't figured that out yet!

Yes I was talking to you.Wow!!! if it was couple years ago I was not living here yet. What was the write up in?
I don't know how to reply when there are a couple post past someone.
Those grandbabies are so much fun. Do you know what it is?
I am going to send a week in MI with a 3 year old, 2- 16 year olds and 15 year . And a week in CA with a 16 year old granddaughter.
My three sons had their first babies within a 2 month time frame.Thats where 3-16 year olds came about.
The girls want to learn cake decorating while I'm there.
Sharon
it was in several area newspapers. then one in the wilton newsletter..on the wilton website...
maybe the writeup you to which you refer is about another albemarle cake decorator...could be.
if the medication does its' job, i should be a grandmother today(monday).
i won't have to travel so far to see him...just a couple of miles.
OK that solves the mystery. I must have saw it in a Wilton newsletter as I am a member of their forum, however I like this one better.
You,mom and baby are in my prayers today.
I'll check here this eve for update.
oh it a boy.......you must go to marshall's by the new Super Target.
I walked in the door and they had the cutest baby outfit for a boy that said Chick Magnet on shirt.
Hi everyone. I live in Lincolnton. The Michaels in Gastonia carries a good bit of stuff. I haven't checked Hobby Lobby yet. Thanks CarolinaSweets for the info on Shirley's that's close to my neck of the woods! I would love to make a trip to NC Paper Co but it's about a 3 hour drive from me I believe. Don't know when I'll make it there. I just talked to someone last night on this site from Oak Island if anyone has ever been there. She wants to open a shop. I told her I would order a cake for our next vacation there!
Your so welcome NikkiDoc, but just to let you know she is closed on Monday's. It's good to know you live in the area. Just to give you a idea of where Shirley's is located take Hwy 150 to the intersect of 150 and 16, at the light take a left and follow about approx. 10-12 miles and the shop will be on your left at the 2nd light. I'm taking my first class tonight in lincolnton they to are teaching the Wilton classes. All the photo's that you all have posted are just breath taking.

you are in stanley! hey that's great! that is really close too! how long have you been decorating? i started making birthday cakes when my first daughter turned one and she's 4 now. I was looking back at old cake pictures and i've made alot of progress but nowhere near where I want to be. i need alot of practice with piping and want to take some classes soon.
I started my first class last night (Course 1) at the Gaston Community College in Lincolnton, its the Lincoln Campus on S.Aspen St. they too are teaching the Wilton classes. I'm a SAHPM of 2 Toby-min pin and Charlie is a Jack Russell/??? This time last year I was in Kentucky taking a faux painting class, thought that would be a great career considering the growth in our area, I 've done work for family and friends and decided that I would just keep it at that. I love to cook (Paula Deen style) and bake so I'm taking it to the next level (cake decorating). As far as decorating cakes no experience here just been playing around with it.
I'll be 50 this year and still trying to find my place in this "World". This site is such an inspiration and the people are so kind. I'm sure the girls just love you being in cake decorating eating all the sweet treats.
Grats to all the Grams
Have a Great Day ![]()

thanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Nothing like being a grandparent. We found out recently that our 2nd one is on the way. They are so sweet. Congatulations again to your family.
ALL4CAKES I have been watching for update on grandson, what is his name?
there are no words to express the happiness and joy you see in son when their first born arrives. I have been blessed to be there for my three sons. Those babies are now 16 years old. They all had their firsts within
three months.I had grandbabies coming out my ears and loved every minute.
Sharon
CarolinaSweets, that is just around the corner from my house! I've been thinking of taking the classes there as well, but right now with our family's schedule it's just too difficult. I'm hoping that everything will be easier to plan around soon. I definately need to practice more but I just don't have much time right now!
Just ran across this topic and wanted to say "Hi" to all my fellow NC bakers. I'm in Clayton, NC - LOVE the NC paper co - they're super nice folks and have just started carrying Satin Ice (only in white, though). I'd love to hear from others in the area - I had to turn away three orders yesterday b/c I overbooked this week and would love to have people to refer these customers to ....
Your site is beautiful! Maybe when I'm in Clayton visiting my daughter, I'll look you up!
Hi All,
I think there is not much activity about cake decorating in NC. But I found one cake decorators meet up group here on the Internet. This is very new group. If you are interested than sign up for this group and we will see you soon.

Thanks
Nitu
NC does have an ICES group that meets about every two months - in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area and in the Charlotte area. That meetup sounds good. . . I would like to attend after I get out of school this semester. If anyone has a need for a baker in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, please PM me.
