Well I made it! lol. The cake turned out ok but next time I will do so many things differently. I tried to cut too many corners and save time and paid the price. Anyway, the cake turned out ok but started to fall apart soon after I set it on the table. I used boxed cake mix (never again) and ready made frosting (never again) lol. I ran out of black frosting and had to use green. The cake tasted great but fell to pieces all over the table. icon_sad.gif The party went on without flaw with fifteen, 18 year olds all night long. They had a great time and ate the cake generously. Here's a pic for what it's worth. Thanks to nanette1 for the dowel rods tip! thumbs_up.gif

So sorry it didn't come out like you wanted. My DH also loves canned icing & I hate using it to decorate as it is too, too soft.

Hope your next comes out like you want icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the reply ChrisJ. I'll deffinitely be using a denser cake reciepe if I can find one as well as a different frosting. I was told to try cake boards next time as well. My birthday is this Thursday. Maybe I'll make myself a cake and try again!!! icon_lol.gif
