i have just been asked to make this wedding cake, but i am not sure what sizes to used. i was thinking a 9" 7" and a 6" or 10" 8" and 6". also the tiers appear to be high, how high do you think they are? Would they be around 5" to 6" high.

i would really appreciate anyone's help, as i need to get back to the bride tomorrow and let her know the size's as she is having a family member make the fruit cakes and i am going to decorate.

she is only having the lilies, not the diamente's and silver twigs...

by the way the wedding is in five weeks.. AAAHHHHHHH icon_eek.gif

thanks

It looks to me like an10, 8, and 6". Could be wrong, but it seems like that because of the size of the cakes to the flowers. The smaller the tier, the taller it will look, but you can do three layers on each cake if you want to achieve the tall look. It's strange that she went by looks rather than how many she actually wants to feed. Good luck!

It looks to me like there are 2 cakes together for each tier. It's very hard to judge the actual size of the cake cause of the height of the cake. I'd got 10, 8, 6 or maybe even 9, 7, 5. Or you could always ring up the people who made the cake and ask if its in a wedding cake magazine they usually will tell you the size of the cake in the picture.
Good luck

thanks everyone for your input..

i'm thinking a 10" 8" and 6', there will be around 100 people, she isn't to worried about feeding everyone but wants to keep the top tier..

she said, she is past being to fussed about the cake, i think the whole wedding planning has taken its toll....lol

I just hope i can pull it off to look as good as the one in the pic......

i am sorry to bump myself up....

i have just had a go at making a gumpaste lily for the wedding cake, and would like your opinions about whether it looks similar to the one's on the original cake.

i have never made these before so any ideas to improve before i make the one's to go on the actual cake would be appreciated...

be cruel, be kind and brutally honest please....

thank you
