I am looking for a recipe for a cake that will make people swoon with the flavor. It needs to be able to be a tiered cake, and have a filling. It also needs a complimenting icing that can be covered in fondant.

Any ideas? What is YOUR most requested cake?

Champagne cake with champagne icing and a strawberry filling, or a chocolate fudge filling. Brides adore that one, and it's a doctored mix. Use a whole-egg white cake mix, add 1/4 teaspoon of champagne flavoring (no alcohol so that people don't balk at eating it), and bake as usual. When making your icing, add one capful of champagne flavoring per 6 cups of buttercream. The bottles of flavoring have tiny little caps but it doesn't take much to flavor the icing.

Sounds yummy, where do you get champagne flavoring?

I get it at my local cake supply store, but I'm sure you could get it online. It's LoRann (sp?) brand.
