I'm in the middle of a huge Christmas order for an architect - due tomorrow! My printer said it was low on magenta, so I filled it back up and now my grays all look like deep plum!!!!! A gray building they designed ... looking plum.
I've tried every combination in the properties that I can think of (turning magenta off, black way up, more blue, less intensity). Nothing gets my gray color back.
I don't know what to do other than cry. Does anyone know what's going on with my printer? How can I fix this? I have a Canon 6000 (6 color inks). Using Lucks brand inks. As a test, I just opened Word and printing off some text in gray - it's PLUM too!
Here's a picture (the one on the left is the disaster) ...
I had something like that happen to me too...set your printer back to default and squeeze the cartriges a little and see if it works..
before you do all this see if you can print out the image on your regular printer the right colors.
If you have an Ebson printer you need to have a chip resetter sometimes with an ebson it reads the cartriage as empty. You may need to take it to one of those places that fill cartriages they may be able to reset it for you. I have also found when printing on frosting sheets sometimes the color doesn't come out like it should so I use wafer paper when that happens and its fine.. oops just noticed you have a canon so this won't help.
I hope I am not too late. This happened to me and I have an ip3000 Canon. Nothing worked so I went to the Canon website and it told me how to do a nozzle check and cleaning from the printer and NOT the computer. It reset everything and worked beautifully. You might look it up in your manual if you have one.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have solved my problem. I want to share this information in case it happens to anyone else. First, I tried everything in the 'maintenance' tab of my printer that I thought might work (nozzles, cleaning, called Canon, etc.) but nothing corrected the problem. I even took my inks out of my printer and put them in a secondary, brand new printer I have as a back up. Same thing - gray was coming out plum. At that point, I figured something was wrong w/my ink tanks - even though upon visual inspection they all looked perfectly fine and there were no messes any where in my printer. While driving across town to get brand new ink tanks, a final thought came to me - I bet when I filled up my ink, the long needle was not thoroughly cleaned out from the prior time that I refilled (black, I think it was) and I bet I contaminated the ink all by myself!! Well, that must be the case because my new ink tanks have fixed the problem!
*** Please everyone - learn from my mistake - be double, triple sure that your needles are completely sterile before refilling ink. ***
As far as my project - well, I can finally resume working on it. I told them I needed another day - and considering they increased the job size by about 35% and got me the photos two days late - they were more than agreeable.
