I want to make silver fondant accents for a cake due this Friday but I don't know how to achieve the color. Any suggestions? Thanks!

grey....using a bit of black gel color, then dry dust with super pearl luster dust.

or...white fondant painted with silver luster dust mixed with a flavoring extract high in alcohol, vodka or everclear. this method will use far more dust.

Kari, do you have Luster Dusts? If you mix super pearl with nu silver and thin with Everclear alchohol, vodka or lemon extract and paint the fondant accents with a small artists paint brush they will be a bright shiny silver.

I have some luster dust and the store is just 3 miles from my house, so I can get exactly what I need. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

I made silver buttercream on my last cake (basketball cake in my photos). I used equal amounts of navy blue and black. I actually used one drop of each for my coloring. I got that combination from an icing color chart.

I saw the picture, great color. What color chart did you find this on?
Thanks!

I got it at Cake Camp in September. It is a Chefmaster color wheel (I used Wilton and Americolor). Here is a link to it...

bkcompany.com

Click on the Chefmaster logo, then food color facts and it will take you to a page that you can click on the color wheel.

Well I got an excellent silver but completly by accident. The silver I tried to get I used pale blue fondant and painted with silver and super pearl luster dust. This was okay but not quite. I wanted to give the black bow a sheen and started to paint with super pearl and came out with a perfect silver. Now I have to remake the black bow but any suggestions to get a sheen on this without getting silver again.
Thanks!
