Just one thought... Why not just use some wall spackle on your dummies??? That way it dries hard, never attracts insects, you can repaint it to whatever color you want it to be, you can sand it perfectly smooth... The list of benefits goes on...

The only thing that's different is that you need to thin it down before applying it to the side of the dummy cake.

My inspector LOVES the fact that I use spackle for my dummies because it's so much easier to clean as well.
