HI my fellow cake lovers =)

I was wondering if anyone can give me a "rum syrup" recipe..??
Please, please, please- with a cherry on top!! LOL

I'm making a cake for a baby shower and they want vanilla rum cake. Now, I've tried mixing the rum with the batter....BUT my cake would "shrink".
If anyone can please help me, I would greatly appreciate it =)

Thank you all so much

Here's a recipe for simple syrup. You add your flavoring to taste after it has cooled off. HTH

This is what i use...

2 c sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c dark rum (or whatever flavor rum is needed, there are SO many flavors out there now...)

In a medium saucepan, stir together sugar and 1 1/2 c. water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat to medium low, simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir rum into hot syrup just before spooning onto cake.

Enjoy!

Here is another good one I have...

10 tablespoon butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup dark rum
1/4 cup banana liqueur

Melt butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat; stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring often; reduce heat to medium, and cook, stirring often, 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove from heat, and cool 10 minutes.

Good tropical flavor...goes great over pineapple upsidedown cakes...mmmmm
