I want to duplicate the cupcakes I see in my grocery store bakery section. They use some type of large tip. They make a large swril....like from 12oclock, all the way around back to the starting point. One full "swoop" of the cupcake covers the entire top. It's a very large (almost star shape) tip. I've used my largest tip, 1M, and I don't get as "thick" of a swoop. What tip would you suggest to get a thicker line? I don't want to have to keep swirling around and around. I just want to make one circular pass to cover the whole top. thanks
have you tried appluing more pressure when using your 1M tip? You can get a pretty thick swirl if you really squeeze.
I have an older tip I use made by Magic Tip that I love! The number on it is 7ST. It has the exact same depth on the points as the 1M, but is just a little larger in diameter and it makes those huge swirls very nicely.
It helps to open up the tips slightly to get a bigger swirl.
Yeah I use a 1M too...

I use a 2D and it works great; puts out lots of icing and big swirls. I will try to attach a pic showing some I made..
