As many of you know, I want to open my own business. I've always been business-oriented but would like to know which program(s) would be best to enroll in for my purposes.

My options are:

Accounting

Bookkeeping

Business Administration

Business-General

Entreprenuership- Small Business Managament

I was also thinkin of taking some graphic design courses for advertisment purposes. What do you all think? What did you take in college?

I took the graphic design courses - they are a good start. You will want to take classes on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, & Adobe InDesign - which is what you would use for all advertising print media.

I think the Entrepreneurship classes would be the best in the business arena!!

I'm in graphic design now, and it is REALLY helping. Color theory, layout, image planning, typography - all these help in creating coordinated designs and the feel that you want for the cake. My decorating skills need help yet, but the design planning is going much better.

I would also recommend management classes. I took a break and did management for 6 months, and it is helping me with pricing and the biz side of things. Many people have the skills to do the decorating but cannot stay afloat because they lack business sense. Now would be the perfect time for you to focus on the biz end, which is helpful no matter what career you end up choosing. Marketing is a big bonus as well!
