Does anyone have a recipe for poppy seed filling that they would be willing to share? My grandma used to make kolackys with poppy seed filling and I loved them. I would like to share them with my boyfriends family this year for christmas. TIA

I don't, but have you tried Solo Brand canned poppy filling? It is very good. Usually food in the Kosher food section of your supermarket.

Don't use solo brand as-is. Blech! But it's a great brand to use for this drop-dead-fabulous recipe

Poppyseed Kolache Filling:

1 can poppyseed filling (about 1 1/2 c or a 12 oz can)
1 beaten egg
1/2 c milk
1/2 c sugar

Combine, cook on stovetop, cool, use.

You can add more milk and white cake or cookie crumbs to extend even further, but I like the basic custard recipe best.

Poppyseed kolaches are my absolute favorite! Let me know if you want the kolache bun/bread recipe and directions, too.

That would be great if you could give me the kolacky recipe, I would greatly appreciate it. I've found some in a cookbook I have but I want one that I know has been tried and tested. Also, thanks to all for the poppy seed filling recipes.
