I can't possibly be the first person to have tried this, but I felt so original when I thought of it LOL!!

The next dinner party you have or when the kids are yelling for cake and ice cream and you don't want to wait for a cake to bake - pull out your waffle iron!

I just used a good ol'mix, heated up the waffler, a quick spray of Pam and poured some cake mix in and closed it. In less than a minute you have a nice hot piece of cake ready for ice cream and hot fudge or drizzle a bit of poured icing on it - YUM! Everyone went crazy over these! They would also be great in a gift basket as well.

If you want to make cake balls quickly and don't have leftover cake this would be a good way to "bake" up some cake quickly as well.

Any other ideas for topppings?

My mom makes the every year for our goodie baskets. She gives each of our families goodies. I beg borrow and trade to get more of the waffle cookies. My kids know they don't get any they are mine. icon_lol.gif I need a waffle iron so I can make them this year. She has made these for about 5 or 6 years.

That is such a cool idea! I love it. Try topping them with cherry pie filling and whipped cream. Talk about a great dessert!

Thanks for the tip.

Wonderful! The batter is the same as if you were baking it in a large pan? ij think that the kids would get a kick out of making these.

Well, a quick check turned up waffles from around the world:

However, no else is making them out of cake batter!

Might be the start of a new trend icon_smile.gif

I was just thinking how quickly you could make up various samples for taste testing using the different liquid/powdered flavored coffee creamers....

Or just do short order custom cakes for the kids!!!

I do them in a fry pan, just like pancakes. A stack of 'pan cakes' with a thin layer of buttercream between is a favorite in my house. The waffles sound like they would be prettier though.
