Hi fellow CC'ers. I haven't been on here in a while but I have a question. I just got some Sweetex shortening and was wondering if I use the same amount I did when I used Crisco? I used 2 cups of Crisco in my icing. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure someone else has a more exact answer but in general you use less high ratio compared to crisco. I've been using half the amount of high ratio in my bc recipes...

There are many posts on HiRatio shortening, but the general rule is 1 part shortening to 2 parts powdered sugar, and it can be used in place of crisco in any recipe, just cut the anount in half. HTH!!

I follow cakemanoh's guideline of 1 cup hi-ratio to 7 cups of powdered sugar; another option is 1/2 to 2/3 cup hi-ratio:1 cup Crisco.
