I have a computer question and I hope someone will be able to help me out.......in the address line, I can usually type in an address like this:
cakecentral.com and it will go straight to it, but it wouldn't work last night, so I typed in www.cakecentral.com and it still wouldn't work.
So.......finally I typed in http://cakecentral.com and it worked.
This is happening with all of the sites I try to visit, not just cake central.
This is a brand new laptop that my dh got me as an early Christmas present.
Is this just a setting error or what???? Can anyone help me out??

Okay, here's the official IT guy answer:
"Go to Start.Control Panel.Automatic Updates
Do all the automatic updates through Microsoft, this will take a while. Let it run till they are all done. You can still use the computer during the updates, but your internet connection will be really slow due to the updates. Also, it will ask you to reboot so make sure you save often to not lose your work."
He also said to let me know if you have any other problems, I'll tell him, and he'll try to help.
what about going to tools ,internet options and selecting in line auto complete. That may work.
Well, I got dh a new laptop for Christmas, and of coarse I had to go ahead and give it to him....he kept wondering where the money went, lol!!!
And, I had told him I wanted one too, so he went ahead and got me one too.
When I started his up, it went ahead and did updates...where mine, I guess, hadn't ran them yet.
As soon as the updates were ran, it worked fine. It was bought this month, but there are always updates, right????
So...thank you so much, you just saved this gal's sanity, lol!!! Tell fiance thanks a bunch!
