OK, so my mom is turning the big 50 this weekend. We are having a surprise party for her. I am drawing a complete blank for a cake design. I have browsed and browsed at pics. and tried to come up with something on my own but nothing is jumping out at me icon_cry.gif I want to keep it light and fun but still play on the over the hill theme. I don't want something that looks too much like a wedding cake but am not opposed to doing something tiered. I am also not opposed to making two small cakes. Her favorite color is yellow and I am calling the party theme "fifty, fun, and fabulous" or something to that effect. Any ideas would be helpful and I know this is the best place to ask for help icon_wink.gif

Not knowing what your skill level is, I don't quite know how to answer...but I did a couple searches in a couple of places, I really like this one which you could do in shades of yellow.

Otherwise - what kinds of things is she interested in?

I also like these, although I don't know where I downloaded them from so I don't know who to credit:

Just thinking out loud here, but what about a 2-3 tiered cake with one side showing a struggling figure trying to just get over it... maybe with a house, kids, etc on the tiers on the way up, then at the top, have the figure sliding down the other side, happy and free of the kids and stuff, maybe sliding toward a little cruise ship or something else she's interested in now but never had time to do before? icon_razz.gif

Just a thought!

I knew I could count on my fellow ccers to get my wheels turning! thanks for the beautiful ideas. Now, to decide...that's the hard part for me.
DoniB, I swear, you hit the nail on the head. She is "younger" now than she was 20 years ago. I guess that's what happens when you are finished raising kids.
I will let everyone know what I decide. The big event is next Saturday. I have never posted a pic. before because I can't figure out how to get it small enough, but I will try!
Thanks again to all!

If you have windows Picture Manager (came standard on my computer), you can open the picture in that, click on 'edit picture', then look to the right, at the bottom, and there should be a button to click on for 'resize'. Click on that, and click on the radio button for 'percentage of original width and height'. Then you can simply click on the up or down arrows in the box below that, to make it larger or smaller. Below that box is a set of numbers showing the pixel dimensions... I forget how big pictures have to be, but I think it's like 800 x 800 for posting in the forum... Just keep clicking on the down arrow for that percentage, until the higher number is 800. Clicking on the percentage button keeps it properly proportioned as you re-size it.

Not sure if this helps or not! icon_razz.gif Might be clear as mud now...

I'm trying to figure out a 50th cake too - my dad's 50th is this coming tuesday.

Oh, and delightsbyE, the cookie dots cake is a Martha Stewart cake. I saw the show where she made "french mereinges" for it.
