Please help!!!! I'm making a Elmo cake. I can't get the icing a deep red. I've used a whole container of color, and even tried some red kool-aid. Have any ideas????

You might try and see if the frosting will oxidize to the right shade of red. Otherwise you will have to start over again and start by dying your frosting with hot pink and then add the red to it. Then it should be the red that you want it to be. Red and black are the two hardest colors to mix from white frosting. I usually dye my black with a blue or green then add the black. It won't be black when it's fresh but let it sit for a while and it should darken (oxidation). That might happen with your red frosting too so pipe a little bit on some wax paper and see if it gets darker as it sits.

Thanks for the advice. I have already put the red coloring. Will it hurt if I add the hot pink now??
