Iam going to be making some gumpaste roses that I am going to set atr the border of a cake. So do I still make them on wire and stick them into the cake or should I make them without wires? Hope that makes since.

I think you could make them without wire but it might be easier to work on them on a wire or a toothpick..when I did the fondant ones, we put them on toothpics (lightly covered in crisco) and then removed the toothpics when dry..I imagine you could do the same with gumpaste.

bostonterrierlady, are you making one similar to the cake on the cover of Wilton's Romantic Wedding Cake book? I'd also like to know how you'd make the roses.
