I made my MMF back in Aug. and it's all wrapped in ziplock bags in the pantry (double bag).

I know it isn't like rotten, but would you use it on cookies?

Thanks!

3-1/2 months!

Nope - spring for the powdered sugar and marshmallows. It is way to old for me! I don't even use last weeks.

I'm not sure on that one- it's been at RT. But I'd also like to know.

forever...lol

I just used some that was about 3.5 weeks old...still tasted great!

I don't know if I'd use it if it were THAT old, though...maybe 1 to 1.5 months...

I've had some tightly wrapped for as much as 2 months and it was still good. It's just marshmallows and confectioners sugar .. not much to spoil in that... pinch off a piece and taste it. If mine is too firm, I'll microwave it for a few seconds at the time to soften.

I recommend springing for new. But, taste it, marshmellows last for years with no change. I still recommend making a new batch.

Thanks for the tips. I'll let the kids decorate cookies with it and go for a fresh batch for my work party.

The old MMF still tasted really good on our cookies, but it was harder to work with than the fresh stuff. It kept getting dry so I had to re-heat it and add more shortening.

One bad thing about fondant on cookies is that you have to have the fondant done before the cookies come out of the oven! You can't bake one day, then frost the cookies the next day.

For cookies it should be fine, but would be tough to work with for covering a cake.

I'll use my old MMF for decorations but always make fresh stuff to cover a cake. It is just easier and more pliable fresh for covering. I've got some MMF that is probably a couple months old now but just fine.
