I have some questions regarding mixers. I currently have a kitchenaid that has been handed down through the family, it's only 250watts though. And I'm totally scared to try to make MMF. I'm thinking it might break it. So I'm looking into different mixers. I've looked into Hamilton Beach, Cooks, Kitchenaid (of course), Sunbeam and Bosch. I'm starting to lean towards the Bosch mixer for the price, the wattage and the set up. So, my questions are, has anyone ever bought, used, seen a Bosch mixer in action? What did you think? Also, do you think my kitchenaid will break if I try to make the MMF? I'm thinking if I just get the powdered sugar and marshmallows mixed together well, I can do the rest of it by hand. So, any thoughts, ideas, facts would be a great help!!!

hiya eves and welcome to c.c.
I too, have a ka 250. I have used it for my MMF and didn't have a problem at all. I even used it for rolled BC and it didn't give me any grief. Just yesterday I used it for a double batch of bc and still no probs with it.

I have the Artisan Model of the KA and I LOVE it. After buying it this summer I would never purchase any other brand of mixer again (not that i'll probably have to). I would say spend the $$ and get an Aritsan (325 watts) or the professional model (450 watts). You won't regret it.

I've had the 250 watt KA mixer for (ahem) 20 YEARS! It has NEVER let me down, fondant & all.
Recently ( I couldn't help myself) bought the Pro model.... second hand from a lady who had used it for maybe 6 cake mixes!
Now, I do believe I'm in mixer heaven.
Honestly, if you want a new mixer, stick with Kitchenaid.... they are workhorses, and have given me and my business their best for years!
I totally agree with the other poster.... Kitchenaid all thge way!

Have I read on here that mmf gets air in it and makes it not turn out as well when mixed with a mixer???

I think I forgot to mention that my kitchenaid bogs down when I make a batch of royal icing. I'm just paranoid too, I've always been like that. LOL. Oh well. I'm going to give the MMF a try tomorrow morning. I start my course 3 class tomorrow afternoon and my teacher said she wanted to see what the MMF is like since she's kind of new to the whole instructor thing. I'm doing my research on the mixers still though. I'm not planning to do anything until Feb. or March...taxes! WoooHooo!! lol. Thank you guys for the help and info. I'm sure I'll be coming back for more!

cooks illustrated rated mixers. the KA classic wasn't recommended, but the Artisan was, and the Professional 6qt was the top rated mixer
