I just got an order for a 9" round cake decorated like a football field, with a football on one end and #75 (jersey #) on the other. How do I make a round cake look like a football field? I'm having major creativity block on this one. Surely it's got to be easy, I guess I'm just stumped as to why they wanted it round instead of a 1/4 sheet, after I quoted the same price for either. Thanks for any help.
Here are 2 ideas:
1-put a rectangle field (will be quite small, though) in the middle of the cake. Have the four corners of the field touching the edge of the cake. Then there will be lots of sideline area around the field.
2-pipe the yard lines across the top of the cake as normal, realizing that you will only see a portion of the field (picture a circle view of the middle of the field).
Do these make sense? I would probably do the yard lines across the whole field to cover a bigger area unless the requestor specifically wanted the whole field in view.
Good luck.
Did you explain to them when they ordeed the cake that a rectanguler cake would be much easier to make into a football field? If not try contacting them and explaining the problem, let them know that a 9 inch round will be a very small football field whereas a 9x13 will be larger
