I put to much in my mmf, I used the easy method where you put it in before the powdered sugar......Do you think i can make a half batch of white and knead it in to lighten it up a bit.....

I did that with yellow one time - too bright - and added white back in and it did lighten it. I was using Fondx but I would think mmf would work the same.

Yuppers, just make more white mmf and add it to the hot pink-that will lighten it up some. If it's not too pink, you should be alright, that's why they always say to add just a little to start with, it's WAY easier to add more color than to take any away... oh well, now you'll have enough left over to use later for practice...

This is a tip I learned from the Cake decorating made easy ebooks: Once the fondant is made, use a tooth pick and add the paste to it and knead it to the desired color instead of adding it while your making it so you'll have the color you need or too much. HTH.

Don't add white to the pink... make another batch and keep adding pink to the white until you get the shade you want.

If you do it the other way around, you might end up still too dark.

Brandisbaked is correct. Add the pink to the white, a small amount at a time. It is MUCH easier to go from lighter to darker.

That's exactly what happened to me last night on my last cake I made. I only added a little dab, and it was shocking pink. I ended up mixing it with another batch of white that I had made, and while the cake looks okay...it's not the pink I was shooting for.

Next time I'm definitely adding Americolor sparingly. icon_smile.gif

ok I have a full batch of hot pink and a half batch of white...I have to make the cake today...and I cant get to the store...I mean I could use the hot pink my daughter likes it ...but I wanted a more pretty barbie than a bright...I was going to do light pink with the darker for accents....I dont know how it would look the other way....
