Hi, so something I wanted to ask about, I see this on the terms when I upload a photo....

Duplicate photos are not allowed.
You may upload 1 photo of a cake and choose the most appropriate photo gallery for that 1 photo. On occasion its OK to upload a different angle of your cake, but we prefer you only do that if it the other photo shows entirely different details of the cake, that are not visible at all in the other photo. Please try and limit any "different" angle photos to just 1, that way there are not more than 2 photos in the gallery of the 1 cake.

So does everyone read this? I'm sorry, I uploaded a photo the other day t'sand was soooo excited about it, then it was off the front page in about 2 minutes because someone behind me uploaded four pictures of their cookies. I understand how proud we are of our creations and want to share every aspect of our designs, but no one really got to see or comment on my cake because it was gone so fast. icon_sad.gif

It's awesome when someone can take duplicate pictures and put them together into one photo, does anyone have directions for that?
I hope I don't offend anyone by bringing this up, and maybe I'm just being selfish..so sorry...

I never even thought about multiple photos pushing other peoples photos off the front page, so I'm glad you posted this. I uploaded multiple pictures of a cake last month because the picture with the multiple views wasn't clear at all. I'm going to work on that! Anyway, thanks for bringing this to my attention (so I won't make the same mistake again).

The reason you can only upload one shot of the cake is because, even though it moves off the homepage, it is still in the gallery, and it makes the gallery difficult to navigate through if the same cake is repeatedly appearing. There are already sooo many photos uploaded each day, and it makes it harder to see them all if you have to get through a bunch of duplicate uploads.

Ooops, I think I am guilty a bit. I uploaded like 4 or 5 of my cakes in a row. I didn't even think about it booting someone elses cake off the main page quickly. I was just doing it while I had the chance to sit for more than a couple of minutes. I will try to stagger them out a bit from now on. I understand completely wanting them to stay on the front page a bit longer icon_redface.gif

yeah, If anyone can tell us how to do the multiple pictures in one, that would be great.

I agree it makes it very difficult to navigate the galleries. I did a search for something the other day and got mildly annoyed when a few of them were just multiple pics of the same thing.

I didnt' even think about the fact that it bumps others from the home page, that's probably as important if not more important.

I don't think you are selfish. The same thing happened to me yesterday....and with about four pics of cookies behind me...hmmm. But I think they were all different cookie bouquets though, to be fair.

I didn't even get to see my pic on the homepage icon_cry.gif I uploaded, went to the kitchen for about 3 min, came back and it had already come and gone. So much for that I guess....

but I received a few nice compliments on my cake and that made me smile so....it worked out in the end.

I'll go look at your cake now icon_biggrin.gif

Ditto for me. I just uploaded some the other day. I'll play the newbie card---I didn't realize I probably booted someone off. Now I know, thanks for the eye opener.

To answer about the multiple pics, there are programs out there that do collages for your photos. You can even FREE download photo programs to do this.

Its different if you are talking about 4 or 5 different cakes! Some pics never show up on the home page! It just depends on how many have been uploaded since the last home page refresh!

I use Microsoft publisher to make my montages and then resize them with www.resize.it .

Here's a website you can download for free www.picasa.google.com I use this for all my photos and love it.

I use Photoshop to put all my pics into one complete picture. I know not everyone has this program. But as mentioned before Picasa will work too. I have it but have never used it for that purpose. I also agree on the multiple photos being posted.

Ah- I didn't realize it made navigating through the gallery difficult. I went ahead and deleted the extra shots of my first cake. I want to offer an excuse though: It was my first upload and I thought that because each side was different... well, that was my reasoning. Anyway, I feel much better now! icon_smile.gif

I have done this a couple of times because of the category selections. I posted a cake in the wrong category, by mistake, and when I corrected it I couldn't believe the difference. I posted a under the sea baby shower cake in (shells, sea, beach theme cakes) and had
13 favorites, but when I posted it in the baby shower category, I have 160 favorites, so it really made a difference, I did do it a week apart so I hope I didn't upset anyone for posting it again.

Thanks for posting this. I have thought the same thing too. I know everyone on here doesn't want to take away from anyone and probably didn't think anything about it but for some reason, my cakes seem to get in front of those multiple photos too.
