I noticed that when i bake a cake especially big ones that they tend to shrink a little in the sides. what do I do? my client wants her cake half styro and half real cake. How do i make sure that my cake and styro would be the same size? The size of the cake is 16"inchx6" round meaning, 16x3" is real cake, and 16x3" is styro. I need help! Thanks!

Hi, welcome to CC! To eliminate too much shrinkage, I would lower the temp of the oven so the cake bakes slower and more evenly. Hope this helps.

It sounds like your edges of the cake may be getting overbaked so they are shrinking. Do you use bake even strips around the side of your 16" cake? What temperature do you bake it at and approximately how long?
