I have been asked to do a brown and gold fondant striped cake. I'm not sure how to get the gold color. Will I have to paint that on or is there a way to make gold colored fondant?

If you want a shiny gold you will have to paint it on. If you just want a golden shade you can color the fondant.

You can paint the gold stripes using gold luster dust mixed with lemon extract.

I just made some royal gold by mixing Ivory, Lemon Yellow and a bit of orange. It turned out a beautiful gold!
