I watched the Cake Challenge show on Food Network and noticed one of the challengers steamed his fondant. Does anyone know what this does to the fondant? Thanks...

Makes it shiney. Very highly suggested for many flowers to make them more dewy, moist and real looking. Just use a teapot and hold them over, but be very careful not to melt them! HTH icon_wink.gif

They also steam the cake itself so you can attach other fondant decorations easily like stripes or diamond shapes so you don't have to paint each back with water, you just cut and apply to steamed cake icon_smile.gif cuts down on time and effort.

Thanks! I'll have to try steaming the roses on my next cake. thumbs_up.gif
