Is there an article about how to make spooky trees (without a mold)? I tried doing a search but nothing came up. I am open to any all suggestions that your collective great minds have.

What's your plan?

I would like to make the spooky trees, 3D. They don't have to be large since I want to put them on the cake board as the decoration for the "forbidden forest." I am a TERRIBLE artist, so drawing then would be bad! I thought if there was a step by step thing I could at least follow that and increase my chances!

I have one on a castle cake in my photos. I made it from fondant and a wooden dowel and florists wire

do you think that the Wilton Fondant will be ok for florist wire? I am only using it because it's just decoration and I know no one will be eating it.

I dont know where I read this but.... If the Tree is not going to be eaten you can mold aluminum foil into the tree shape then cover it with swatches of fondant. The seams wont matter because you will grab the fondant and sort of squeeze it to the foil then you can airbrush it or get the color in the can from wilton. You will use way much less fondant this way and it wont weigh a ton.

That is a good idea. Looks like it's going to be a long weekend of playing!
