I was wondering what method most people use to move a decorated fondant covered cake to a nicely decorated board.

Im almost done with my purse cake and would like to move it... but scared to mess it up. Any tips?

Thanks in advance

Usually when I have a decorated cake board I cover my cake in fondant and immediately place it on the board.. that way you are moving it before the fondant sets up and it is still pliable and easily smoothed if needed. You can place parchment paper or plastic wrap around the cake to cover the board to catch any icing mishaps then remove when you are done. Right now I'd just move it as quickly as possible. Make sure to run a spatula around the base to make sure that it isn't stuck anywhere before you lift it.

I use a long offset spatula to assist in moving my cakes, when you set them on the board you can lower most of the way with hands and then to avoid marking up your board use your spatula to lower the rest of the way, it works great.

I keep all of my cakes on a sheet of wax paper. It makes them a lot easier to move and stack. You just slowly slide the wax paper out from under.
