Has Anyone Tried To Cover A Pretzel Stick In Mmf?

I'm trying very hard to think of a way to make a hockey net that is edible and I'm having a hard time with the frame.
I tried making the frame out of MMF but it just won't stand up on it's own. I don't think that gumpaste will work either and besides, it's not really edible.
Now I'm thinking maybe I could make the frame out of pretzel sticks and at least they would be firm enough to stand up. Maybe I could cover them in red MMF. Do you think that would work? Could I stick the pieces together with royal icing maybe?
Has anyone ever tried covering pretzels with MMF?
What about using royal icing? Maybe blowing up a balloon and make the net with royal. Maybe cover it with parchment. When the royal dries, gently remove it.
To get a stable frame for the hockey net...What about those black licorice pipes, cut them lengthwise to the dimensions of the netposts, fuse em together with royal or some other edible'glue'? Might work....then pipe royal 'netting', or if that's too brittle, somehow use licorice strings as netting? Hockey nets are a tough challenge! ![]()
Could you make the hockey net solid...say out of white MMF or white chocolate...and then draw on the hockey net with edible food markers? Maybe pipe it on in dark chocolate? Or maybe make the "netting" out of black MMF pieces and lay right on top of the solid "form"?
I know that you probably want to go for the open look (which would be awesome), but i think i would find it very frsutrating.
Good Luck whatever you decide!!
