Ever Fall Short W/earlene's Chart? Figuring Cake For 150.

I was planning on using Earlene's chart as a guide for an Anniversary cake that I have next week for 150. They would like 2 or 3 tiers...
I was thinking 3 may look nicer... but anyway... has everyone had good luck with Earlene's chart? Even though her numbers are supposed to be a little heftier than Wilton, they still seem smaller than what I'm used to.
According to her chart, a 16", 12" and 8" square would give me 150. But I'm not sure how pretty that would look....what do you suggest? Thanks!!!
Holy crap! Those sizes under the wilton chart would serve 232, so you should EASILY get 150 out of that! (and you think Earlene's are too small???
)
I cut using the wilton chart....here's what the cut cake pieces look like. Remember, cake is the dessert ... not the meal: http://cateritsimple.com/_wsn/page19.html
I use Earlene's chart and have never fallen short. You might think the slices are small, but they're a nice size on the plate.
Hmmmm...maybe I was too hungry when I looked at the 1x2x4" paper cake model that I made
...it didn't look big enough!
I'm so used to 2x2 party servings since I don't get many tiered cake orders. I have to retrain my brain for tiered servings. Thanks for your input indydebi and snowboarder ![]()
I always figure in between the Wilton Chart and Earlene's chart. I do not cut the cake so I want to have enough when the caterer cuts it. But even between the 2 charts, the cake should serve 200-210.
Like Indydebi says, it is dessert, not a meal.
