Anyone ever tried the Egg Nog cake recipe here on CC? It starts with a Yellow Cake Mix. Someone requested an Egg Nog cake for Christmas and I am NOT an Egg Nog fan so I don't know if I'd be a good judge of taste anyway. If anyone has tried the recipe please let me know what you think of it or if you have a good Egg Nog cake recipe that you're willing to share, I sure would appreciate it icon_biggrin.gif ALSO, how does Chocolate Ganache sound as the icing for Egg Nog cake?

There is an egg nog white chocolate cake recipe in the Cake Book (listed at left probably), that looks deLISH. I can look it up if you want it but it involves rum, white chocolate, and white spice sponge cake.

I think I would suggest something other than a chocolate icing for an eggnog cake. I think it would take away from the cake. I would go with maybe a cinnamon buttercream or eggnog flavored BC or even a rum flavored BC.

Just my suggestion.

I made eggnog buttercream to go on eggnog cupcakes and it was really good.

I make Wilton's Extra Special Buttercream--basically the same as Tami's on baking911.com-- and instead of using heavy whipping cream I substituted eggnog 1:1--mmmmm....

To get rid of the yellow cast, I added 2 dots of violet color and had a wonderful white eggnog buttercream.
