I've just brought an 8" tiffin mould and have looked everywhere for cake mix sizes to fit the mould, but no luck. can anyone help? Not sure if I should just use the same amount as for a standard 8" square or round.
A Tiffin is the same as a Wilton Wonder mold used for the doll cakes. A regular cake mix in the US is about 5½ cups and I think the capacity of the tiffin is the same. The wilton directions are here.

hi again, sorry should have been more specific. The tiffin is the same as the one used for the doll cakes.
Oh! Then a single box mix (or recipe for a 13x9 cake or 9" round cake) should be just about perfect.
When in doubt, fill it with water to the level you would fill with cake batter. Measure that amount of water (in cups or whatever you would use). Then utilize that amount of cake batter to bake with. [i.e., if 6 cups of water fills the pan to the level you would fill with batter, then use 6 cups of batter. Should be just about perfect.]

If ever I'm not sure of a cake-tin's capacity, I just take a "known" cake tin - I usually use an 8" round as standard - fill it with water, then tip it into the new tin. Repeat until new tin is full (or calculate how much water is left in known tin, if new one is smaller).
I hope that makes sense! ![]()
thanks for the advice, i will give it a go and see how it turns out. ![]()
