Hello! Just seeing if i could get feed back on my latest cake... good or bad, i dont mind. THanks everyone!

I hope i attached it right, if not its the North Carolina Jersey cake in my photos. thanks again!

pickles777 I think you did an awesome job. Cool concept. Is it all buttercream?

Your cake gives me an idea. My husband will just love a cake like this.

First of all, great job! The color is nice, and your lettering is very pretty! My only constructive criticism would be that I noticed some crumbs in your icing. Did you do a crumb coat? Also, you might want to try one of the popular methods for smoothing your icing...either the Viva paper towel method or the Melvira "roller" method.

I love the idea! Very inspiring!! thumbs_up.gif Did you pipe the letters directly on the cake? To me they look like candy melt letters!

I noticed the same thing with the crumbs. I brush off as many crumbs as I can with a pastry brush and then crumb coat. I then stick the cake in the fridge until the icing is hard and then ice. Great job with the letters!

I used all buttercream icing. I attempted the Viva method. I got the concept down on a normal cake but not yet on a cake with many colors, so hopefully next time it will look better. The letters i just outlined in Royal icing and then filled in with flooded royal icing. I kinda think it looks crappy, hehehe, but luckily its only for my bf's brother! Thanks for all the feedback, it makes me feel better but also helps me learn better from my mistakes!!
