I am making a 3d cake in the shape of a trans am for a grooms cake for this saturday, and I need to make silver for the cars rims. Its too late to order silver color and the nearest store that has any form of silver coloring is an hour and a half away normally I would drive there but with three kids and a full time job theres no way I can get there before saturday. so my question is, how do I make silver?? or at least make it look silver. I thought about using non edible paint and letting them know not to eat the wheels, but I would like to keep it all edible. any suggestions??? thanks in advance!!!
Geez... you are in tough spot - how about making light grey? I can't think of anything that would do silver unless you bought the dusts -
(they have the wilton kind of michaels - not sure if you can get to one of those...)
Sorry I couldn't be of more help - but it seem grey is going to be your best bet if you don't have any dusts....
Anybody else know?
well I have petal dust that is silver and i tried mixing it with piping gel but It didnt make it silver. I would really like to make this car as close as possible to the real thing. the joke is that the groom likes his car more than the bride so this cake is a surprise cake for the groom. There used to be a micheals about 45 min away from where I am but they closed. I am in a tough area for cake decorating and just about everything other than the ordinary cake mixes etc. has to be ordered.
