When you add pudding to a cake mix do you follow the directions on the box and just add the pudding and an extra egg? I read a post where someone also doubled the oil called for on the box. Do you use instant pudding? Thanks for the help.

HI Tiggy! Yes, you follow the directions on the box, add instant pudding and a extra egg. This is the way I mix mine, I've never added the double oil. It always turns out great for me! thumbs_up.gif

Thank you Denise! I'm going to try a cherry chip cake with white chocolate pudding, does that sound like a good combination? My DD loves cherries and white chocolate.

One thing I found is the type of cake mix that already has a pudding added becomes a bet more moist than I like so I don't add any to that type of mix. And yes, one more egg is all that is needed.

Sounds awesome tiggy! I've used white chocolate with strawberry...oh my gosh, it was sooooo good!! Be sure to post and let me know how you liked it. icon_biggrin.gif Ditto with lapazlady...I only use Duncan Hines cake mix. It doesn't have the pudding already in it.

I know this answer is a repeat but....I have added the pudding and 1 egg extra and it's always worked for me. I don't add extra oil as the puddding adds the extra moisture so I don't see a need to add oil. I even use olive oil in my baking and never had a problem with taste or with moisture issues.

Hey girls!! Busy. All the time. I had two orders for fudge today. Then it was my daughters turn to bring in snacks for her church group so I made cookies. Cleaned the house, now fixing to get ready for church! How have you been?

If I add pudding to a mix that already contains pudding (ie. Betty Crocker) then I add an extra egg. If I add pudding to a mix with no pudding in it originally (Duncan Hines), then I don't add the extra egg.

The extra egg I think acts as a binder, so when there is so much 'pudding in the mix" is when you need the egg.
