GOT AN EPSON PRINTER? read this!
Class action lawsuit against Epson because their printers would notify
user that ink cartridge was empty when it wasn't and halting use of
printer forcing them to buy a new cartridge. They have agreed to
settle to avoid fees. If you purchased an Epson on or after April 8,
1999 to May 8, 2006 then you qualify. You can receive a $45 dollar
credit to the Epson estore as part of the settlement. There is an
alternative to treceive a $20 check and $25 credit to the estore or
25% of an estore purchase up tp $100 dollars.Go to
www.epsonsettlement.com to see if your printer qualifies.
This was in a shopping newsletter that I receive. Just thought I should share in case some of your Epson printers might be included in this class action. Janice
Hmm. I owned 3 of the models listed and one of them I currently use. I did not have any of those problems with mine. With the first one, the printhead was shot and could not be replaced. It was within the warranty period and I was able to get the next model up (mine was already discontinued). I wonder if we will get sent stuff automatically because we registered our printers? Don't really need anything from the Epson store....
If you registered your printer you will get a notification. I got this same notification in the mail earlier this year but have not been able to file anything because my printer is currently in storage and I can not get to the serial number and all that.
This is great info! But it looks like the site says that the deadlines for registering a qualifying printer, or for submitting a claim, have already passed. Which is total bunk, because I bought and own two qualifying printers, and it's not like Epson sent me a notification of the lawsuit settlement and I just forgot to file a claim. How can they offer a settlement amount, not tell you about it, and then when you find out about it via helpful CC members, tell you "sorry, you're too late"?! Grr!!
I still have a Stylus 785 EPX, and had the 740 before that, and always noticed the replace cartridges signal came on, but I just ignored it and kept printing until it actually quit printing, which was usually quite a lot of printing!
Epson has a lot of things, labels, paper, etc., if you are due the settlement, surely you could find something worth having. I'm not sure if they will send out individual notices or not.
Ceshell I would contact them and ask if it's possible to submit your claim that you just found out about the "recall" so to speak and see if it's possible.
I have the Stylus something lol C100 or something like that and I always got the outta ink warning but did the same as veejay said I just continued until the paper came out clean after spending all that time printing lol. I have a new one now though, I purchased a Lexmark all in one, scanner, printer, copier, fax about 2 years ago and I love it!!!!
One thing I can say is on all printers do not try to refill ink cartridges lol it doesn't work very well lmao I spent over $50.~ on refill kits and stuff and it leaked everywhere didn't work at all so I took them back to Staples and demanded they exchange them for the proper cartridges since they leaked everywhere and possibly ruined a $150.~ printer they were happy to do so when I said they could either exchange for Lexmark ink carts or give me a new printer lol
