Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone could give me some tips on making a spice/raisin cake in a sports ball pan? I want to make it like a pumpkin, so I'm using the sports ball pan because I can't find a pumpkin one to rent... but I'm concerned about the fact that I'm making a spice cake in it. Will it be the same as making any other cake? I thought they were a little more wet and would fall apart. Especially since it will be standing (3-D), I don't want it to fall apart.
Any suggestions? Or has someone else made one of these and it will be fine?
Thanks all.

I did a spice cake in the wilton ball pan. It didn't have any raisins or such in it, but it held up ok. I froze it to carve the dents in the pumpkin (see my photos...), but otherwise it was fine...good luck!
