Can I use buttercream icing when using the lily nail?
I have directions to make the hibiscus flower using royal icing, but I would like to use buttercream icing instead.
I did a practice set of flowers with buttercream. And after I let the flowers get firm in the freezer I tried to peal them from the foil and they started to crack and break. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you.
im really no help but maybe you could use plastic wrap instead of foil. it might be easier to peel off or wax paper?
yeah, I was thinking about switching to wax paper...
but would it stay on the nail?
On the foil I put in my lily nail I spray a bit of PAM cooking spray, (not a ton just a bit and swirl it around with your finger to get the whole foil covered) let them dry for a day of so and they peel right off......my wilton instructor taught me this tip (not a wilton thing) and for some reason the PAM does not break down the royal icing, not sure why but it just doesn't
Hope that helps!!!
I am glad you suggested the pam, I thought about using it, but was afraid it would mix with the icing
Now, what about the buttercream? Can i use it with the lily nail?
Sorry I keep asking, I just need to know because if I can't use the buttercream, I am going to have to start working with the royal. I didn't want to use royal since it dries so quickly - and being new I need all the time I can take!
I could be wrong, but I really don't think buttercream would hold up to "unmolding" from the lilly nail. The royal icing doesn't dry that quickly. Give it a try.
