OK, so I have been playing w/ mmf alot lately and I thought I was getting the hang of it WELL the last 2 batches aren't coming out right they are still really sticky and I even added more powdered sugar than I had been to see if that helps NOPE not helping. This last batch sitting in my kitchen is the worst thus far I can't even cut strips of it (I have prep'd the area w/ crisco like always) but it's sticking and stretching REALLY bad I can't even pull the strips off the board but if I put much more Crisco it's going to mess w/ the mmf.
SOOO my question is it b/c my heater is on b/c well winter is here? My house isn't hot by all means it's comfy (I think like 74 ish).
I was wanting to make loops so I could make a bow BUT I can't even get the strips to cut right so I can fold them into loops and when I do get the loops they look all stretched out and NASTY. The cake is for tomorrow so I will jsut have to come up w/ another design BUT I want to know for future why is this happening????
THANKS

What is the humidity like in your "world"? Minnesota goes into a winter desert - very dry - so I have not experienced this phenomenon yet, but probably will this summer with our high humidity.

I think I would try adding 50 percent gumpaste.

well, I'm in Texas so it's almost always humid - LOL...
I don't have any gumpaste (the last time I tried to make it it um well wasn't usable...

What about kneading in some cornstarch until the MMF gets to the point where you can roll it out and cut it so that it doesn't lose it's shape? I usually find that CS works better than powdered sugar if the MMF is stretching too much.

Well ... I never measure, and I don't know how much you're dealing with here ... but ... enough 'til it gets stiff enough to hold it's shape. You'll know it when you feel/see it, I think ...
