I am in the process of trying to set up an online bakery. If I do not have a store front (yet), is it strange for me to call it a bakery?
I'd be baking out of a commercial kitchen.

I just thought of a cute name for it and the word "bakery" is in the title...

I just looked up the definition of "bakery" and it's defined as an establishment where a baker works...

so, I'd fit the bill according to that definition...
What do you guys think?

Yikes! That scares me....

Well, I think I'm going to try this...at least reserve the domain name for the future...
Thanks for the input!

cottage can also refer to a business that's done from home, or a small business. It doesn't mean the building looks like a cottage necessarily.

I do strictly cakes out of my home. If someone asks if my business is a "bakery", I reply "No, it's more like a cakery."

It never fails to produce a laugh.

I don't have bakery in my business name (long story why not) but I have signs in the window that say Bakery. I had a lady come in one time and want to buy bread, which I do not do. She then proceded to argue with me that I should not have signs that say Bakery if I do not produce breads. I have a fully licensed storefront in which I produce close to 100 wedding cakes a year, thousands of cookies and a lot of occasion cakes, not to mention a fresh case that is filled with brownies, cookies, cake, etc. every day. I just wanted to shake her and ask "If this isn't a bakery, what the h*ll is it?" icon_mad.gif People will think what they want, but if you want to call it Pear's Automotive, you can. Hey, that's not a bad idea, it would certainly get more men in the front door...hmm.... icon_lol.gif You bake, therefore, you are a bakery!
