I'm not sure I can help you with the thread, but when I make my chocolate MMF, I just add about 1/3 cup dutch processed (dark) cocoa powder and mine tastes just like tootsie rolls and smells DELICIOUS!!! I use the modified MMF recipe, adding crisco with the water and flavoring.

When I did it, I just added cocoa powder to the sugar when I added it to the melted marshmallows. It does taste just like tootsie rolls.

Also, If I only need a little bit-as for accents, I just use the tootsie rolls instead. It comes in a bunch of flavors and colors in my bulk foods dept at the grocery. Just unwrap and microwave for 3-5 seconds and it is very pliable.

Maybe you mean chocolate plastic, (mix 1lb melted dark choc with 1/3 cup corn syrup and chill overnight). For more info try googling chocolate plastic, you'll find lots of help. Some of the cakes in my photos are covered with it, it's much easier than fondant to work with and I believe it does taste like tootsie roll, although I've never actually tasted tootsie roll icon_smile.gif
